Workshop on permitting procedures for injection operations in wells
On Thursday, September 8, at the headquarters of the Environmental Assessment and Licensing Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, a workshop was held on permitting procedures for injection operations into wells, with the participation of specialists in Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation “KAHRAMAA” and the Environmental Assessment and Licensing Department, as part of a series of workshops that it is organized by the Environmental Assessment and Licensing Department, with the aim of “enhancing cooperation and developing integration in procedures” between the competent authorities in the country.
The specialists in the Operation and Control Department of the water networks in “KAHRAMAA” provided a detailed explanation of the institution’s procedures, with regard to drilling and injection permits for wells and for all cases; explaining the mechanisms, requirements, and conditions in this regard.
The specialists of the Environmental Assessment and Licensing Department also clarified the procedures followed by it, regarding injection activities into underground (tube) wells.
During the meeting, the existing coordination mechanisms between the two departments, and ways to enhance and develop this were discussed, in addition to the importance of holding these workshops periodically.
