The State of Qatar designated the Al Rufaa area as one of the country's natural reserves in accordance with Ministerial Decision No. (132) of 2020. Al Rufaa Reserve, located near the Al Rayyan and Al Wajba areas, is considered a unique reserve, known for its breathtaking natural landscapes filled with several meadows and wild plants. It is also distinguished by its unique biodiversity, representing some of the finest examples of local ecosystems.

The reserve consists of a group of meadows near Doha and covers an area of approximately 53 square kilometers. It sits on elevated land relative to the surrounding areas and is rich in native wild plants that make it stand out from other meadows across the country.​
