H.E. Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, at the Climate Ambition Summit in New York

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change participated with a delegation headed by H.E. Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, at the Climate Ambition Summit in New York, which was held during the 78th UN General Assembly

The summit was an opportunity for international activists, influencers, business, financial communities, local authorities and civil society to address climate change and accelerate climate action. The summit came at a time when the world needed to focus on unprecedented levels of rising temperatures and unprecedented environmental phenomena, and was aimed at facilitating cooperation across borders and communities to accelerate the decline in carbon emissions

At the conclusion of the summit, the Secretary-General of the United Nations stated that this summit is a “summit of hope” and urged participants to increase ambition in confronting the phenomenon of climate change. This comes in light of the efforts made by the State of Qatar in the field of climate change based on the environmental pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030, the environment and climate change strategies and the National Climate Change Plan as well, where a goal of reducing emissions by 25 percent by 2030. This is emphasized by the leadership of the State of Qatar in efforts to combat the phenomenon of climate change in the region
