His Excellency the Minister of Environment and Climate Change visits Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council to explore the council’s efforts in the field of environment
This morning, His Excellency Dr. Faleh bin Nasser Al-Thani, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, visited Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council. The purpose of the visit was to be informed about the latest developments and efforts undertaken by both parties in the fields of environmental sustainability and climate change, particularly related to research and innovation. This visit is based on the cooperation program that was signed last year.
The two parties held a meeting in the presence of Eng. Omar Ali Al-Ansari, the Secretary-General of Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council, along with several officials from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The meeting reviewed the accomplishments of the previous year, which included the launch of an innovation opportunity on the council’s platform for the ministry under Qatar’s Open Innovation Program. Additionally, the establishment of a research office within the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change was approved. Furthermore, the ministry registered its environmental laboratory equipment on the council’s platform to make it accessible to researchers.
The two parties also agreed to launch a document announcing a research program dedicated to the environment, climate change, and research priorities in September. The proposed steps for implementing the collaborative program were discussed, aiming to enhance institutional and community partnerships with various relevant entities within the country.
Furthermore, the two parties reviewed Qatar’s Research, Development, and Innovation Strategy 2030, which was developed by the council in alignment with Qatar’s National Vision 2030. This strategy encompasses its seven pillars and the efforts undertaken within each pillar in accordance with strategically important national priorities.
During the visit, His Excellency the Minister of Environment and Climate Change was accompanied by Engineer Ahmed Mohammed Al-Sada, Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Affairs, Mr. Abdulhadi Nasser Al Marri, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs, along with Engineer Hussain Al Kubaisi, Director of the Technical Office and Commissioner of the Research Office at the ministry. Also present were Ms. Aisha Al Baker, Director of Planning, Quality, & Innovation Department and Mr. Mohammed Al Khonji, Director of Wildlife Protection Department.
