Minister of Environment and Climate Change meets with the Algerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development

His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser Al Thani, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, met with His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Abdelhafidh Henni, Algerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, during his visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Abdulaziz Ali Al Naama, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Algeria, and the delegation from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change accompanying His Excellency the Minister.

The meeting witnessed the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to renew the activities of the Qatari Center for the Conservation of Houbara Bustards and Endangered Species, as well as the development of wildlife in the state of El Bayadh, in the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

During the meeting, the parties also reviewed areas of mutual cooperation between the State of Qatar and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in the fields of environment and wildlife, as well as the ways to support and develop them in the coming period, particularly opportunities that can enhance the partnership between the two countries.

It’s worth noting that the State of Qatar has become one of the most advanced countries in the field of conservation of endangered birds and animals, with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change making significant efforts to preserve and increase their populations.

The Houbara Bustard Breeding Center in the El Bayadh state aims to rehabilitate and sustain ecosystems, enrich biodiversity, create employment opportunities for the local population, promote the concept of wildlife conservation, and engage the community in its preservation. Additionally, it seeks to build national capacities for both parties in the field of breeding Houbara bustards and other wild animals, which will be subject to consultation and agreement between the two parties.
