The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change conducted a workshop for the detection of radioactive materials at Abu Samra Port

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organized a workshop for the detection of radioactive materials at the Abu Samra border crossing. This was done to confirm the readiness and preparedness of national personnel to deal with radioactive and nuclear materials.

The workshop, carried out by the Radiation Control Department, was part of the collaboration between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the relevant authorities at the Abu Samra border crossing.

The workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the mechanism of dealing with radioactive sources, their detection methods, and location determination. It also focused on optimizing the use of radiation detection gates and providing practical training on the use of measuring devices for detecting radioactive sources and materials.

This workshop is part of a series of training sessions conducted by the Radiation Protection Department for personnel at border crossings. The training is aimed at equipping them to work with radiation detection gates in accordance with the highest radiation safety standards in the State of Qatar.

It’s worth mentioning that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is committed to organizing such training courses regularly for all its personnel and other relevant entities involved in handling these materials. This is done to ensure efficiency in regulatory work and to enhance capabilities during the thorough inspection process of all imported shipments entering the State of Qatar.
