The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organizes a training course on radiation detection methods for the members of the General Authority of Customs

The Radiation Protection Department at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organized a training course on radiation detection methods for the members of the General Authority of Customs at Hamad Port and Qatar Navigation. This aims to enhance the capabilities of the Authority’s personnel in controlling radioactive sources coming from abroad.

This comes within the continuous efforts of the Radiation Protection Department to enhance and increase the efficiency of regulatory work through border crossings. It is part of comprehensive national projects and training plans currently being conducted by the department to regulate the import and export of industrial, medical, and research radiation devices.

The workshop covered the fundamentals of radiation protection, radiation measurements, methods of controlling radioactive sources, and handling them. It also included practical training on using radiation measurement devices to detect sources and radioactive materials.

This workshop is part of a series of training programs conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change for the personnel at border crossings to handle radiation detection gateways according to the highest standards of radiation safety in the State of Qatar. The aim is to ensure the health of citizens and protect them from any radioactive sources present in imported materials from abroad.
