To introduce the uses of nuclear technologies in animal production, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change is participating in a training course on the use of the iVetNet network

As part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mr. Abdul Hadi Nasser Al Marri, Assistant Undersecretary for Environmental Affairs, and the National Focal Point for the International Atomic Energy Agency, inaugurated the regional training course on the use of the iVetNet network to support the implementation and maintenance of the ISO17025 standard in veterinary laboratories.

The course organized by the Livestock Department of the Ministry of Municipality aims to train participants in using nuclear technologies to increase animal production, identify diseases affecting livestock, and produce vaccines. This involves updating records on the iVetNet information platform and integrating these resources into routine laboratory diagnosis to develop and maintain the ISO17025 standard.

This falls within the framework of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s technical cooperation project RAS5085 ‘Utilization of Nuclear-Derived Techniques for Early and Rapid Detection of Priority Animal Diseases.’ It aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and its strategy for food self-sufficiency. These technologies represent some of the latest methods offered by the International Atomic Energy Agency to enhance animal production and combat diseases, benefiting member states of the agency.
