The Natural Reserves Department

The Natural Reserves Department handles the following responsibilities:

1- Devise plans to manager, protect, and develop natural reserves, both land and marine, in coordination with the relevant bodies.

2- Conduct studies and submit proposals for the location of existing reserves and the need, if any, to expand existing natural reserves or build new ones in Qatar in coordination with the relevant bodies.

3- Propose legislative instruments on natural resources, and follow up on their implementation should they are adopted.

4- Supervise the facilitation of the processes of enhancing wildlife in natural reserves in coordination with the relevant bodies.

5- Establish and maintain a database on natural reservices, including the number, type, and kind of wildlife beings they house.

6- Issue approvals and entry permits for entering and visiting land and marine natural reserves.

7- Supervise the programs to preserve and enhance biodiversity and wildlife in natural reserves and in coordination with the relevant bodies.

8- Combat violations against wildlife and natural areas in natural reserves in coordination with the relevant bodies.

9- Provide adequate nutritional and health care for the wildlife animals and beings living in natural reserves in coordination with the relevant bodies.

10- Monitor, protect, and oversee land and marine (islands) natural reserves. To that end, the Department is also responsible for detecting violations within its mandate.

11- Preserve living resources and ecosystems in natural resources, and design plans and programs to protect them in coordination with the relevant bodies.
